STUDENT PREREQUISITES

  • Be certiEed in Enriched Air Nitrox 40 or equivalent.
  • Be certiEed in Deep Diving or equivalent
  • Be certiEed in Extended Range Nitrox Diving or equivalent.
  • Have logged at least 50 extended range divesthat require a stage cylinder, decompression and a written dive plan
  • OR

Be certiEed CCR Diving on the unit being used.

  • Have logged at least 30 hours on the speciEc unit being used.
  • DURATION

Recommended hours for course completion: 40 (5 days).

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

  • A complete CCR Extended Range Total Diving System that:
  • Has CE-type approval (European version)
  • Is approved by SSI
  • A single bailout cylinder (minimum volume: 5.7 liters) and bailout regulator with:
  • Second stage with 1-2 meter hose and SPG
  • Low-pressure inHator hose or quick-connect compatible with the unit
  • Oxygen cleaned asrequired
  • Backup OC/CCR computer for bailout in the event of a system failure
  • A surface marker buoy (SMB)
  • Spool or reel appropriate for the planned dive depth
  • Backup mask
  • Cutting device
  • Surface signaling device
  • Manufacturer and/or SSI Pre-Dive Checklist

DEPTH LIMITATIONS

Air as diluent:

  • Open WaterTraining Dives 1 and 2 must be conducted at depthsshallower than 12 meters.
  • Open WaterTraining Dive 3 must be conducted at depthsshallower than 20 meters.
  • Open WaterTraining Dive 4 must be conducted at depthsshallower than 25 meters
  • Open WaterTraining Dives 5 and 6, and any additional training dives, must be conducted at depths between 30 and 40 meters.
  • One (1) dive must be to a minimum of 35 metersfor certiEcation

Trimix as diluent:

  • Open WaterTraining Dive 4 must be conducted at depthsshallower than 25 meters.
  • Open WaterTraining Dives 5 and 6, and any additional training dives, must be conducted at depths between 30 and 45 meters.
  • One (1) dive must be to a minimum of 40 metersfor certiEcation

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION

  • Complete academic sessions and assessments as outlined in the program-speciEc instructor manual.
  • Complete the program's Enal exam with a passing score of 80%
  • If qualifying trimix, complete a CCR Extended Range Trimix Enal exam with a passing score of 80%.
  • Complete the XR Water Fitness Evaluation as outlined in the General Training Standards.The snorkel swim may be replaced with a CCR surface swim while breathing from the loop.
  • Complete an equipment conEguration session with the applicable CCR unit
  • Complete at least one (1) pool/conEned waterskill developmentsession lasting at least one (1) hour
  • Complete a minimum of seven (7) training dives, including one (1) conEned waterskill developmentsessionslasting at least one (1) hour, and six (6) core open water training dives with a minimum run time of 30 minutes each, as outlined in the CCR Diving Instructor Manual.
  • Complete at least 480 minutes of in-water runtime on the applicable CCR unit
  • Be able to independently complete a full dive plan and bailout plan using the Extended Range Dive Planning sheet

NOTE: Students completing this program using a rEVO CCR unit must complete at least one (1) additional pool/confined water skill development session, lasting at least one (1) hour. A. NOTES The first and second training dives must be planned within the no-decompression limits of the SSI Combined Air/EAN 179 (C) SSI International GmbH, 2018 Tables or the student’s personal dive computer.

  • Actual staged decompression training must be conducted on Open WaterTraining Dives 3 through 6.
  • The total time for all required decompression stops on Open WaterTraining Dives 3 and 4 must not exceed 15 minutes per dive.
  • The total time for all required decompression stops on Open WaterTraining Dives 5 and 6 must not exceed 25 minutes per dive.
  • The bailout cylinder must be Elled with air, or a nitrox mix with a maximum ppO2 of 1.6 at the deepest planned depth of the dive.
  • Bailout cylinder volumesshould be calculated using a minimum SAC rate of 40 liters/minute.
  • Diversshould not carry an onboard diluent gas with a ppO2 higher than 1.1 bar at the bottom.
  • The maximum loop set point is 1.3 bar.

SEQUENCE

  • Open WaterTraining Dives 1 and 2 may only be conducted after completing the equipment conEguration session, the water Etness evaluation and all pool/conEned watersessions.
  • Open WaterTraining Dives 3-6, and any additional open water training dives, may not be completed until all standards requirementsfor academic lectures, the Enal written exam and Open WaterTraining Dives 1 and 2 are successfully met or exceeded.

CERTIFICATION

CCR Extended Range certiEcation entitlesthe holder to dive with an equally- or more-qualiEed buddy, on dives using specialized diving equipment and proceduresto depths of up to 40m (using air) or 45m (using trimix with a minimum of 20% oxygen) and requiring staged decompression stops of no longer than 25 minutes, providing that dives are conducted in environmentssimilar to those of the diver'straining and experience.
